MGBA: Miniature Goat Breeders Association of Australia Inc.
Measuring Stick: Measuring appliance
Measurer: Those persons who are competent to measure miniature goats.
Witness : Registered MGBA Breeder who is competent in the measuring of miniature goats.
Handler: The person responsible for the Goat including, but not limited to, the Owner, the Exhibitor and the Lessee.

Height measurement is taken from the highest point of the wither to the ground with the animal standing on a solid level floor, preferably concrete.

- The measuring stick should be a right angle device set perpendicular to the floor with a spirit level to ensure accuracy.

- The animal should be as relaxed as possible with its head in a comfortable upright position.

- Height measurement must be done by an experienced Registered Breeder, MGBA judge, steward or a Veterinarian.

- The height is measured in centimeters.

- It is important to make sure that the animal is standing in a relaxed position and not leaning backwards or forwards. (Accurate measurement cannot be taken when the animal is held by horns).

MGBA PROCEDURE FOR MEASUREMENT OF MINIATURE GOATS

1. All goats shall be measured in centimeters.

2. The Measurer must take particular care to ensure that the surface on which the goats are to be measured is solid, preferably concrete or paved and level.

3.If a Witness is nessesary for your registration, the Witness shall assist the Measurer and will also examine the measuring stick reading they will be signing to. The witness is to keep the animal steady.

4. A total of three measurements may be taken, then added together and divided by three. This will give an overall average and the result shall be deemed to be the height of the goat.
